We sincerely congratulate you on the winter holidays! We wish you, your family and friends peace, comfort, warmth and patience. We praise the Armed Forces of Ukraine and our unbreakable community of Ukrainians. We are glad that we can celebrate the coming year 2024 in our homeland. We believe that the rebuilding of our country has already begun and is happening every day. And we are all contributing to it in our own way — including through the support of culture and art, which remain our common value.
Today, on the eve of our 5th anniversary, The Naked Room needs your support. As a commercial gallery, we have been operating in fair market conditions for five years. We have consistently developed our circle of collectors and financed our activities exclusively from sales. With the start of the full-scale invasion, we lost the Ukrainian market, and our Kyiv space has been operating at a loss all this time. However, the gallery remained hospitable and warm in every sense: we were one of the first cultural institutions in Kyiv to open its doors in May 2022, the exhibition programme ran smoothly, and in winter our guests called The Naked Room nothing less than an "artistic point of resilience".
This month, we were faced with the choice of either closing the space on 21 Reitarska Street or looking for alternative financial models to pay for rent, utilities and salaries for our dedicated team. Feeling that the financial situation cannot be the only reason for the decision to close, we invite you, the circle of friends of The Naked Room, to join us in preserving the space, which remains important and necessary for the Kyiv community in these difficult times.
Together with our artists, we invite you to subscribe to our Patreon page.
For a monthly donation of €5 to €300, we will thank you with presents, a private consultation or a work by our favourite artists, all of which are available for a one-off donation.
6 of our closest authors (Makov, Ivanova, Buchatska, Chekmenev, Ryaska and Kurmaz), who have gone through an important journey with the gallery, are now creating special limited edition works. These pieces can be added to your own wartime collections on a monthly basis and you can become a patron of The Naked Room for a regular contribution.
Thank you immensely for staying with us!
Yours, Liza and Masha
