Illia Todurkin was born on 25 October 2000 in Mariupol. He entered the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture to study graphics, but did not finish the programme. After studying at the academy in Kyiv, he moved to Odesa and joined the group of artists OSRZ-2, where he mainly worked on performance art together with Daria Chechushkova, an Odesa artist, with whom he made a performance from the Muzeon Experimental Centre at the Museums Festival (2020). The works made in collaboration with Daria were exhibited during the event at the exhibitions Co-Existence (2021) in Odesa and Reason for Disappearance (2021) in Kyiv. After that, he returned to Mariupol, where he participated in the exhibitions of Blindspot and Gareleya Neotodryosh (curated by Vitalii Matukhno). With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he became a participant in the OSRZ-4 residency in Lviv, where he exhibited his sculptures created during the residency at a group exhibition.
